Rapido GMD-1 in 1954 – 1961 Green Scheme

Rapido has shipped their recent release of the Canadian National GMD-1. After all my pre-orders were filled, I have one left over due to a last minute cancellation.

Numbered 1026, it represents the classic Canadian branchline locomotive that has been seen in almost every part of Canada, and now in other locales as well. It was intended initially for light rail prairie work, but eventually found work in work train service, yard and transfer service and…., in passenger service too. (see Okanagan Wine Train – 1999 at

priced at $215.00 Canadian, or $193.00 US.
Postage is $20.00 to anywhere in Canada and will be actual cost to US destinations.

This is a brand new, unopened product of Rapido Trains Inc. It is DC only with a 21 pin capable light board. If you wish, you can purchase a 21 pin ESU sound decoder, or a 21 pin TCS motor decoder from Caboose Coffee Hobby Supplies. Both of these decoders are ‘plug and play’. the only additional bits you will have to purchase will be a speaker, which we can supply to you for a nominal cost. Email for prices and availability.

Not exactly like the one we have for you, but the 1900 is still a GMD-1, although with two-axle trucks and onboard steam generator.

The model below is closer to what we offer, except that ours is numbered 1026.

GMD1 model.1063

Please excuse the poor quality of this photo.
It is included to demonstrate the three axle, six wheel truck.
The model looks fantastic. Congratulations Rapido!
